SION MCINTYRE

Growing up on Anglesey, Sion spent many years working beside his grandfather, Donald McIntyre. Returning from sketching trips with Donald and on occasions Kyffin Williams and Eddie Forrest, he was quite oblivious to the good company he was keeping, as well as to just how much he was unwittingly absorbing in his understanding of painting the sea splashed cottages and surrounding coastlines of North Wales.

Sion specialised in fine art at Bangor College under the tuition of the late Peter Prendergast, who trained at the Slade School of Fine Art and studied under Sir William Coldstream and Francis Bacon. Sion shows a love of the use of colour to set the lighting and mood of his paintings. Confident, well-placed brush strokes reveal his feelings of a place. Through sketchbook and en Plein air painting, Sion captures landscapes and seascapes from tranquil to stormy, drab to effervescent.
